Through Twitter integration, key information from the social media site can be Indexed for further analysis.

To utilise the built-in Twitter API, there are a number of configuration steps:

Creating the Consumer Key

The Consumer Key is required to access and extract the data held by Twitter.

Navigate to the System Settings screen by clicking Setup, System then Settings. Click the Third-Party Settings tab to access the Twitter Consumer Key and Twitter Consumer Key Secret options.

Navigate to the Twitter Application Management page and log in use the relevant Twitter credentials to generate the required keys. Once the application has been created, ensure that it is setup with Read and Write permissions in the relevant Twitter Settings tab.

Enter the generated keys into the Twitter Consumer Key and Twitter Consumer Key Secret textboxes.

Creating the Twitter User

Now the Twitter API has the required keys, a CXAIR user must be created that will be used to perform the Indexing tasks.

Navigate to the Twitter Accounts screen by clicking Setup, Security then Twitter.

Click New to configure a new user. Use the Account Type radio buttons to specify the type of user that is created. If no Twitter accounts have been configured yet, only the Both option is available. A Pool Account is used to perform Index builds, and a User Account are used to update Twitter directly, such as creating followers, for example.

Once an Account Type has been specified, click Authorise on Twitter to open a new tab in the internet browser. Enter the Twitter account login credentials to authorise the account.
