01. About Pages
Learn more about pages to understand how to organise the data in your reports.
A page in a Pages report is the digital equivalent of a page of a physical report. On that physical report, each page would likely share tabular data, graphs and gauges that are somehow related. The same is true for a page in a Pages report.
By adding multiple pages to a Pages report you can both organise the contents of each individual page – displaying related information on the same page – and prioritise that content by specifying the order in which it’s presented to the report’s users.
At the page level, you can set the orientation of the page (useful when the report is likely to be printed), and the frequency with which the data on the page is refreshed (useful when the report is permanently displayed or is based on frequently updated data sources).
Adding a new page
- Click the Add Page button at the top of the Report Structure Page.
This adds a new page at the end of your report.
Renaming a page
- In the Report Structure Panel, click the title of the page to which you want to rename.
- Click the Rename icon on the Dynamic Toolbar. This displays the Rename Page dialog.
- Enter the new name in the Name filed.
- Click the Apply button.
Changing a page’s settings
- In the Report Structure Panel, click the title of the page for which you want to change the settings.
- Click the Page Style icon on the Dynamic Toolbar. This displays the Page Style dialog.
- Change the settings as required:
- Orientation – select whether you want the page to be in portrait or landscape. Changing the orientation of a page removes all of the content on that page, so it’s best set before you add any components.
- Background Color – Either enter the required hex code or select from the popup colour picker, to set a colour that will be used as the page background.
- Click the Apply button to save any changes made.
Changing the order of pages
- Click the Layout tab at the top of the Report Structure Panel. This replaces the Workspace with an interactive diagram of the current report layout.
- Click then drag a page over one of the other pages to reorder it. The new position in which the page will appear is indicated by a red box.
Note: Moving a page up the order moves all subsequent pages down a position, it does not swap the position of the two pages you’ve interacted with.
