# 12. Troubleshooting

| Symptom                    | Checks                                                                                                                                                                    |
| -------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| AI control is unavailable  | Check AI licensing, the user's effective **Use AI** feature, saved models and configured provider credentials.                                                            |
| “No available models”      | Confirm at least one model is saved and its provider configuration is valid. Check the user's default model and model availability.                                       |
| Image cannot be attached   | Confirm the selected model supports images, the file is an image, and it is within the model's maximum file size.                                                         |
| Response omits report data | The report or file may exceed the context limit. Reduce scope, use filters, split the request, or review model context and reserve-token settings.                        |
| Wrong or unknown index     | Run index discovery and use the returned QueryEngine name. Check user access and spelling.                                                                                |
| Unknown field              | Rediscover the index and copy the exact field name. Do not substitute display labels or SQL column names.                                                                 |
| MCP connection rejected    | Check HTTPS reachability, exact context path, streamable-HTTP support, and the `Authorization: Bearer ...` header. Ask an administrator to validate or replace the token. |
| Design tools unavailable   | They require the internal endpoint, a live CXAIR session, a Pages report and Design mode. They are not on the external endpoint.                                          |
| Report change looks wrong  | Inspect the element details, undo or revert to the saved report, make a smaller change, and request a new render or screenshot.                                           |
| MCP server does not start  | Review CXAIR logs, external URL configuration, servlet initialisation, and temporary-directory permissions. The MCP server is not started in an Index Writer process.     |
