# 07. Understanding MCP

Model Context Protocol is a standard way for an AI client to discover and call application tools. In CXAIR, the MCP server is hosted by the CXAIR web application and uses streamable HTTP.

The external base URL and context path are deployment-specific. Obtain the exact URL and an approved token from your CXAIR administrator. Do not infer a production endpoint from examples.
