# CXAIR 2020.1

## CXAIR 2020.1

When creating, managing and publishing reports across an organisation, catering for the best possible end-user experience is vital to guaranteeing an engaging and informed output.

The CXAIR 2020.1 release builds on this philosophy to deliver a range of exciting new features that expand the reporting capabilities of the tool, providing report creators with a suite of new options to assist creation and maintenance of new and existing reports.

## CXAIR: New Features & Enhancements

### New Reporting Features

#### Triggers & Events

An exciting new Pages feature is the addition of **Triggers** and **Events**. By predefining an action, multiple tile transitions can be triggered simultaneously for seamless navigation.

The report must contain at least two components added to at least two tiles. Rather than controlling each tile transition separately, **Triggers** can be created that control multiple tile transitions, or **Events**.

The required Triggers are added via the Text component using the **Trigger** icon:

Created **Triggers** are then assigned to **Events** that, when used in conjunction with **Tiles**, results in feature-rich reports controlled by intuitive user controls.

For a more detailed breakdown of the creation steps, please refer to the Pages chapter of the User Guide, where a step-by-step guide is available.

#### In-Page Filters

The interactive Filter panel has long been used to provide a greater degree of control for users when running reports. This functionality has now been expanded to allow these Filters to be added to the report itself, further enhancing the end-user experience:

To add an in-Page filter, simply drag and drop the new Filter component onto a report:

Double click the added component in Edit mode to open the Filter Configuration popup, where the standard Filter options can be configured. This Filter will now appear as part of the report rather than added to the Filter panel.

#### OpenStreetMap Support

With the introduction of Fusion Maps in 2019.1 proving a popular addition, the mapping capabilities of the tool have been taken a step further with OpenStreetMap integration to account for a greater level of granularity in location-based reporting.

Configuration is handled at Index level and can be added by opening the **Maps** section. Select **OpenStreetMap** from the **Map** drop-down to reveal the required options. Select the field that will be displayed from the **Display Field** drop-down list before selecting the **Latitude** and **Longitude** fields that will be used to plot the points on the map:

When configured for an Index, the **Map** component will become available in Pages for integration into new and existing reports:

If an Index does not contain the required latitude and longitude fields, these can be added via a join to a postcode Index. Please contact <support@connexica.com> for more details.

#### Chart Annotations

It is now possible for end-users to annotate charts when viewing a Pages report. This control is visible when the **Annotate** option is added to the Header or Footer of a chart:

When running the report, users can then click the **Annotate** button before clicking a value and adding the desired comment using the **Text** option. Use the **Padding** options to specify the position of the text, in pixels, and enable the **Generate Arrow** option to draw an arrow from the comment to the data point. Use the **Visibility** icon when running a report to hide or display annotations added by users:

By default, every annotation will be available to every user viewing the report until the Index has refreshed. To preserve an annotation when the Index is updated, enable the **Retain on Data Change** option when adding the annotation.

#### New Umber Chart Theme

Following the positive feedback from the recent charting theme additions, a new theme has been added in this release: **Umber**. Select this option from the charting **Colour** option to add this bold colour scheme to new and existing reports:

#### Fusion Time Charting

A new chart type, **Time**, is available when plotting a date field:

Use the controls at the bottom of the chart to change the date range and scroll through a custom time period.

#### Dashed Trendlines

When adding a trendline to a chart, a new **Dashed** option is available:

### New Report Management Features

#### Tile Order

When adding new tiles in Pages reports, a sequential order has now been applied to the creation process. This ensures new tiles cascade in the order they are created, with the initial component added to the first tile:

#### Individual Pages Component Refresh

When navigating a Pages report that contains linked components and in-Page filters, reporting components will now update independently. This offers a significant performance improvement using multiple components as the entire screen no longer needs to be refreshed.

{% hint style="info" %}
This feature will only be active when running a single-page report that does not contain multi-page charts or charts from the D3 charting library.
{% endhint %}

#### Not Between Threshold Function

A new **Threshold** option is available for Crosstabs to further assist the filtering of values at runtime. Select the new **Not Between** option from the **Condition** drop-down list **Threshold** tab and specify the required values from the resulting textboxes:

#### Conditional Formatting Copy Button

When specifying new conditions in the **Conditional Formatting** tab, it is now possible to create a copy of the currently configured options to streamline the creation process. The new **Copy** icon is located next to the **Remove** icon:

#### ETL Stage Management

The additional processing afforded by the ETL Wizard offers the CXAIR userbase a wide range of features to shape, filter and flatten data into an optimised output that better suits reporting requirements. To further assist with the creation and management of these structures, the stage management has been updated to allow the reordering of stages from the Wizard screen.

To move a stage, click the **Cog** icon then select the required position for the stage:

{% hint style="warning" %}
Stages that reference values from a previous stage will require changes to ensure the structure of the processing is conserved.
{% endhint %}

#### Images for Report Viewer Folders

Customising the Report Viewer interface with report previews and logos is a simple, effective way of ensuring solution-wide styling in accordance with organisation brand guidelines. In this release, it is now possible to add images at folder-level to better represent hierarchical structures.

To add an image to a folder, click the **Cog** icon for the relevant public folder and click **Upload Image**:

This will present the **Upload Image** dialog box where the required image file can be added by clicking **Select File**.

#### Nested Drop-down List Filters

Two new Filter types are now available to browse selections hierarchically: **Drop-Down List (Nested)** and **Drop-Down List (Nested) (Multi)**.

To configure the filter behaviour, select the desired filer and click **Advanced Options** to reveal the required options. Use the **Order** option to specify a custom field order and the **Nested Display Fields** option to establish the hierarchy. Click **Save Filter** to complete the creation process.

The nested drop-down lists will now be available, providing interactive navigation for users:

#### Enhanced Tooltips

Tooltips provide an invaluable layer of communication to assist end-users when running a report. This functionality has been expanded when adding tooltips to charts within Pages reports using the **Enhanced Tooltip** functionality:

Enabling this option in the **Charting** tab reveals a text box to facilitate a greater level of detail and content using calculations and eye-catching styles. It is also possible to add previously created Crosstabs and charts to the tooltip by clicking the **Crosstab** icon and selecting the required report.

Once added, the extra detail is available when a user hovers over the chart:

#### Results Per Page Enhancement

The Query **Results Per Page** option has been enhanced to allow a custom value between 1-100 to be entered. This makes navigating the Query screen much easier when working on a lower resolution screen.

#### Remote Monitoring

To assist the management of multiple CXAIR instances, new Remote Monitoring options have been added to monitor server utilisation and CXAIR services:

For more information regarding the configuration options, please refer to the Administration Guide.

#### Enhanced Database Exporting

Efficiencies have been made to the Database exporter process, resulting in higher performance when exporting Indexes to a Database connection. This does not require any additional setup once the upgrade has been installed.

#### Custom Fusion Chart Shapes

By harnessing the newest FusionCharts update package, custom chart shapes can now be imported into CXAIR to provide a greater level of control. Please contact <support@connexica.com> for more details regarding the creation steps.

#### Saved Query Generator

A new Quick Start Wizard is available that can automatically generate a batch of saved Queries for all unique values within a field. To activate this feature, please contact <support@connexica.com> for the required .jar file.

## CXFORMS: New Features & Enhancements

First released in 2016, CXFORMS introduced a brand-new data ingestion layer to the solution that encompassed a drag-and-drop form builder, form delivery mechanism and automated data capture.

Working alongside customers, the CXFORMS module has been further expanded to provide greater control over distribution through **Campaigns** and bespoke user access via new security features.

### Form Creation

#### Refreshed Interface

The CXFORMS interface has been refreshed to better match the wider solution with higher-resolution logos and navigation buttons:

The CXFORMS interface is also fully compatible with the CXAIR Skinning tools. For more information regarding custom skins, please refer to the Interface Customisation chapter of the Administration Guide.

#### New Table Element

Available for new and existing forms, the **Table** element provides a greater level of control when aligning multiple options. Simply drag the new element to the form workspace to get started:

#### Enhanced Form Options

Clicking the **Edit** button for a form now presents two new options to provide compatibility with attachments and PDF conversion.

Enable the **Allow Attachments** option to present the recipient with an attachment upload dialog when submitting the form. Following an automated virus scan, these files are then available to users viewing the submissions.

To ensure the greatest level of accuracy when printing a form, enabling the **Show Print Button** option will add a fully customisable Print button to the form that can be repositioned when in design mode. When this button is clicked by recipients, the form is downloaded in its current state of completion in PDF format, ready for printing.

#### New Dependency Options

It is now possible to make added elements dependant on one another, only displaying when a condition has been met. To activate this new feature for an added element, use the **Dependencies** drop-down list to select the element and associated options:

Multiple dependencies can be added by selecting other elements from the drop-down list.

#### Runtime Zoom Slider

When previewing a form in design mode, a zoom slider has been added to the bottom-right of the screen to allow a custom level of scaling to be applied on-screen.

### Submission Management

### Enhanced Publishing Features

When publishing a form to one or more distribution lists, the available options have been expanded to allow for greater control over the delivery mechanism:

Use the **Start Date** and **End Date** options to specify the length of the **Campaign** along with the **Frequency** option to specify a recurring timeframe for submissions. Using these options can automate distribution for **Daily**, **Weekly**, **Monthly**, **Quarterly** and **Annually** required submission periods.

Specify a value, in days, for the **Send Reminder** option to automatically send an email a number of days after the **Start Date** for those who have not yet submitted a response. Use the **Closure** textbox to specify a value, in days before the **End Date**, for a final reminder to be sent.

### New Campaigns Functionality

With the fully automated data ingestion functionality providing the userbase with a number of key reports from submitted forms, the next stage in the product’s evolution has been realised with all-new **Submissions** and **Campaigns** areas.

Accessible from the initial landing page, users can now track submissions, annotate responses and resend forms all from within the solution by accessing the **Submissions** screen. When a form has been published, a **Campaign** will appear detailing the number of submissions along with a number of options:

For each campaign, the number of submissions is presented alongside the number of recipients. Click the **Resend** button to send the form to those yet to submit a response.

Use **Schedule** icon to review and amend the distribution options and click the **Delete** icon to remove an individual campaign and its responses.

Clicking the **View** button will display the submission details for each recipient:

Use the **Submitted** and **Non-Submitted** radio buttons to filter the recipients displayed. Recipients detailed with the **Non-Submitted** option selected are those who will receive the form when the **Resend** button is clicked in the previous screen.

Click the **Edit** icon to view the submission. Making any changes and clicking **Submit** will result in the form being annotated, with the last user to annotate the from appearing in the **Annotated** column. Annotating a form will create a new row of data in the CXFORMS reporting Index for auditing purposes.

#### Reporting Index Enhancements

CXFORMS Reporting Indexes now cater for multiple responses to a single question. Now that a separate row for each response is generated, the captured data is shaped for subsequent reporting automatically.

#### Data Source Group Management

CXFORMS Data Source Groups can now be stored in a separate directory. These structures contain response data that now be easily backed up and restored, if required. Use the new **Path** setting in the **System Settings** to set the required directory.

### Online-Only Submissions

To ensure the highest level of cross-platform compatibility, published forms will now default to use the **Online Only** option.

With this option enabled, the email link will open the form in a new tab rather than downloading a HTML file. When filling in a submission, the current state of the form is retained in the browser’s cache. This means that users can re-open the email link to continue a submission should it not be completed in a single session.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Should a recipient clear their browser cache, all currently completed sections of every form will be lost.
{% endhint %}

To revert the **Online Only** behaviour and instead allow users to download a HTML version of the form, disable the **Online Only** option in the System Settings. Please refer to the System Settings chapter of the Administration Guide for more information.

### User Permissions

With the detailed submission tracking now providing users detailed information regarding multiple **Campaigns**, new user security measures have been established to hide the **Submissions** section for certain users, should this be required.

The new **CXFORMS Viewer** and **CXFORMS Creator** options are found in the Users and Groups screens.

{% hint style="info" %}
The relevant permissions must be established prior to a **Campaign** being published.
{% endhint %}

For a detailed breakdown of the required steps, please refer to the Distribution chapter of the CXFORMS User Guide.

### Automated Virus Scanning

When attachments have been enabled for a **Campaign**, an automated virus scan of every uploaded file can be configured in the System Settings. Please refer to the System Settings chapter of the Administration Guide for more information.

### Additional Notes

{% hint style="warning" %}
In some rare cases, Pages reports created in older versions may need components to be re-aligned following an upgrade.
{% endhint %}

Due to an update to FusionCharts, the Calculated Trend functionality has been deprecated in this release. Combination charts provide this functionality with the added benefit of being far more customisable.
