# 10. Advanced Configuration

The following functionality areas provide administrators with additional tools to further configure the system:

## Database Connections

By creating \[Database Connections]\(doc:.Database Connections.WebHome), relevant connection settings can be saved and made available across different areas of the solution.

## Cloud File System

The \[Cloud File System]\(doc:.Cloud File System.WebHome) functionality allows users, with the relevant permissions, to import files from a third-party cloud storage account into the solution. This negates the requirement for local file storage under certain circumstances.

## Targeting

The [Targeting](doc:.Targeting.WebHome) functionality provides the ability to create Targets based on key data items to help monitor, maintain and measure key performance indicators.

## Currency Management

Using the \[Currencies]\(doc:.Currency Management.WebHome) functionality, monetary conversions can be setup within Indexes.

## Twitter Configuration

Through \[Twitter]\(doc:.6e. Twitter.WebHome) integration, key information from the social media site can be Indexed for further analysis.

## Interface Customisation

The appearance of the solution is fully customisable using the \[Skinning]\(doc:.Appearance .WebHome||anchor="Skinning") and \[Colour Palette]\(doc:.Appearance .WebHome||anchor="Colour Palette") options.

## Metadata Web Services Integration

\[Metadata web services]\(doc:.Metadata Web Services Integration.WebHome) provide the programming interface to enable interaction between \[CXAIR]\(doc:Technical Documentation.CXAIR.WebHome) and third-party software applications.

The web services offer open, platform-independent APIs which allow applications to access metadata relating to the core Search Engine and Index structures, while exposing interfaces that allow these applications to construct queries. These then initiate \[CXAIR]\(doc:Technical Documentation.CXAIR.WebHome) queries or reports in a secure and non-invasive manner.

## Remote Servers

Configuring a \[remote server]\(doc:.06h. Remote Servers.WebHome) allows Indexes to be exported to other remote \[CXAIR]\(doc:Technical Documentation.CXAIR.WebHome) instances.

## Extension Management

\[CXAIR]\(doc:Technical Documentation.CXAIR.WebHome) is pre-configured with adapters for the most common extension and MIME types. Administrators can further \[extended Indexing compatibility]\(doc:.06i. Extension Management.WebHome) as new extension and MIME types are created.
